Vertafore Software Developers File Patents for Mobile App and Remote File Management Innovations

Bothell, WA – February 19, 2013 – Vertafore (http://www.vertafore.com), the leading provider of software that transforms the business of insurance, today announced the filing of two patent applications for mobile app and remote file management innovations created by Vertafore software developers and engineers. The innovations can save time when testing mobile applications and managing remote file servers.

The first patent application was filed by Aleksey Sinyagin, a development manager, and software test engineers Judy Wang and Justin Vinall. The invention was discovered working on the release of new insurance mobile application, Vertafore Producer Advantage. The company required a more effective way to test online services within an environment where changes are constantly being made to the app. With integration testing of web services often being highly complex, inefficient and costly, the software experts created a better way.

The three inventors developed a self-learning, auto-expanding test system for web services integration testing that enables Vertafore Producer Advantage to have 1,200 test cases auto-generated on a daily basis. The automated system iterates and makes changes and over thousands of test cycles converges on a set of tests that are of much higher quality than those initially generated. This innovation has the potential to save time for mobile application developers in any industry when testing and ensuring the quality of the products.

The second patent application was filed by Raul Alvarez, a senior software test engineer. Vertafore needed to know if files on production servers where Vertafore solutions are live are what the developers developed. For information-security reasons, developers do not have physical access to the production servers.

The invention saves software developers time by using cryptographic technologies to quickly compare files. It does this by reducing the size of individual file comparisons from hundreds of megabytes to a few dozen bytes per file. This invention also eliminates the need to physically access the remote file system or download large files from the production server.

“Vertafore’s software developers and engineers are leading the way in helping further our position as a technology leader that our customers can rely on to solve all their software challenges,” said Theo Beack, Vertafore Senior Vice President of Engineering & Operations. “Innovation has been in our DNA since our founding, and we will continue to recruit the best and the brightest inventors to push meaningful change in the software industry.”
