As part of our long-term technology modernization strategy, Vertafore recently completed the migration of Sircon’s core services to Amazon Web Services (AWS). Though customers may not immediately notice major changes in their day-to-day activities on the platform, this move to the cloud marks a significant milestone, ensuring enhanced stability, performance, and security while easing the path for future growth.
Why? Improved scalability, stability, and security
One of the primary drivers behind this migration was the shift away from maintaining physical data centers and hardware. Leveraging AWS allows Vertafore to reduce capital expenditure, adopt a more flexible infrastructure model, and focus additional resources on delivering more effective technology directly to customers.
Beyond this strategic alignment, the transition has already unlocked measurable improvements that provide Sircon customers greater reliability and security at every stage.
Greater stability, higher availability
Prior to cloud migration, 30% of critical issues resulted from infrastructure instability. By rebuilding Sircon’s environment on AWS, customers now experience a more reliable technology foundation that significantly reduces infrastructure-related disruptions. That means fewer outages and improved service.
Sircon’s architecture now resides on multiple secure data centers that Amazon terms “Availability Zones,” which distribute services to run separately and concurrently. This design ensures that even in the unlikely event of multiple regional failures, Sircon’s systems will remain operational. Compared with the previous model, where a single failure could result in significant downtime, this is a major leap forward in terms of infrastructure resiliency.
Stronger network security
Security remains a cornerstone of Vertafore’s technology modernization efforts. By increasing infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform within AWS, Vertafore can now deploy unique environments for Sircon customers that are completely automated, consistently configured, fully auditable, and peer-reviewed prior to release. This approach eliminates human error during infrastructure changes, reduces configuration drift between testing and production environments, and enforces strict network security controls.
Rather than adopting legacy firewall rules, Sircon’s infrastructure rebuild started from zero, allowing only essential traffic and adding additional access as needed. The result is a hardened, tightly controlled environment that reduces exposure to potential threats. Customers—and their sensitive data—benefit from this highly secure framework as Vertafore continues to invest in technology that adheres to industry best practices.
Better performance and future-proof scalability
The impact of this switch to AWS is already evident in system performance, and some customers have reported processing tasks in half the time post-migration. Across the board, web service performance has drastically improved, with service calls that exceed one second reduced from 16% to just 0.5%.
Overall, Vertafore’s Sircon customers and their users now experience faster, more responsive systems.
Additionally, new tooling and enhanced monitoring in AWS have accelerated Vertafore’s ability to diagnose and resolve issues. Initial results show a 500% improvement in triage speed, greatly minimizing potential customer impact and accelerating resolution times.
With this reduction in issues, it’s also possible to deliver more agile growth. With AWS, scaling infrastructure no longer requires a challenging procurement process, and adjusting capacity or adding new features quickly and efficiently is much simpler.
